Recent Events
Spring Ephemeral Tour
Members and non-members took advantage of a sunny, slightly chilly day to tour the incredible prairie and woodland garden at Bonnie and Harold Vastag's lovely home in Oneida.
School Plantings
Franklin Middle School planted a large native planting. Members stepped up to the plate and donated a variety of natives for the middle schoolers.
YMCA Healthy Kids Day
Saturday, May 2, found hundreds of children and their parents exploring the booths and activities at Lambeau Field. Chapter members helped the kids plant their native plants. Between 10 am and 1:30 pm, 500 native plants found new homes with happy kids. They all just loved digging in the dirt. We had good volunteers from our group and also some very helpful volunteers from the Y and from De Pere High School. When the plants were gone, we switched to the head bands which also produced a lot of smiles. Members also had time to talk to many of the adults and give them a quick overview of Wild Ones. Check out some of the photos here!
Trail Clean-Up
Members met on Wednesday, April 29, at 5 p.m. to clean up our section of the Mountain Bay Trail. Several members braved the large amount of water on each side to clear the plastic, cans, metal, chairs, even a part of a bowling ball! from the trail. The weather was nice and we spotted bloodroot and marsh marigolds along the way.
April Meeting - Eek!!! There's a spider on that flower!
Matt Weller gave a beautiful photo presentation about spiders, their habits and identifying features at our April meeting. Matt is the Curator of Education at the Neville Public Museum.
