Naturalist Karen Breternitz of Chippewa Nature Center will give her presentation. The meeting is open to the public and is held at Chippewa Nature Center's main building. Best Loved Websites for Native Plants and Landscaping- Meet at the Auburn Library community room (the library is located on Auburn's main street) for a lively exchange of our best-loved websites starting at 6 pm. Adjournment will be at 7:45 due to library hour restrictions. This will be a hands-on computer experience. Please bring a laptop with WIFI service if you have one. There are a number of library computers available for those who don't have WIFI service on their laptops.
    Feb 21, 2009 (Sat)     Dow Garden's Know & Grow Seminar - Mid-Mitten Chapter members are manning an information booth from 8:30 am to 4 pm at this annual event held at the Midland Center for the Arts.
    Mar 25, 2009 (Wed)     March 25, 2009, Wednesday - Ferns and Native Shade Plants - Come join the Mid-Mitten Chapter for an informative evening by CNC staff and Wild Ones member, Jeanne Henderson, as she tells us about our native ferns and shade plants for natural lanscaping and your own woodland gardens. (Then later in May we can join Jeanne on a wildflower walk on the Chippewa Nature Center trails to see some of these plants in person. Meeting begins at 6:30 pm at the Chippewa Nature Center's temporary visitor center in Midland. Wild Ones will have a short meeting with refreshments (1/2 hour max) after the program.

Earth Day Hike - Celebrate Earth Day by getting out and into the woods to take in the sights, sounds and smells of spring. Naturalist Karen Breternitz will lead the 1 1/2 hour hike and talk about the trees, wildflowers and fungi that are getting ready for their busy season. The hike is from 6 - 7:30 pm. Sponsored by Chippewa Nature Center in Midland, the admission is free. Join Mid-Mitten Chapter members after for a short meeting with refreshments (1/2 hour max).

Linwood Rest Area Native Plant Project - It's time to get your hands dirty as we visit and spring clean our native plant project. Mid-Mitten chapter members took on this project two years ago and continues to maintain an area of native plants on the "trucker's" side of the rest area located just north of the Linwood Road Exit on I-75. Clean-up is planned to be a short rewarding hour from 6:30-7:30pm. Come join in the camaraderie. If necessary a second clean-up evening is scheduled for Wednesday, May 13 at the same time. CNC Annual Native Plant Sale Mid-Mitten Chapter will join this annual sale with a booth and helpful supplies of plant markers to purchase with CNC's native plants. Thursday's 1-8 pm time is for CNC member's only and Friday's and Saturday's 9-8 pm time is open to the public. This is always a very popular event at Chippewa Nature Center

7 Ponds Nature Center Prairie Tour- The Mid-Mitten Chapter will travel to 7 Ponds NC near Lapeer, Michigan for a 10 am guided tour and a 30 minute slide show before an approximate 1 hour walk. The cost is $3 per person with a minimum $30 cost for the tour. There are numerous other non-prairie trails to follow also. The drive is a 90 minute trip from Midland.
